Our client is a family-owned firm with over 30 years of experience helping small businesses and individuals thrive through tailored financial and taxation services. They are seeking a Senior Accountant who is keen to build a long-term career within a supportive, award-winning, and growth oriented environment.
As a Senior Accountant, you will manage a diverse client portfolio, balancing technical compliance (GST, income tax, BAS) with strategic financial advisory. You will act as a mentor to junior staff and serve as a key technical resource, ensuring reporting accuracy while delivering insights that drive client business growth in the firm.
About the Role
- Prepare and review financial statements, letters, correspondence, reports and other documents ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and deadlines
- Perform account reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing activities
- Prepare tax returns and assist with tax planning and compliance
- Prepare and lodge BAS (Business Activity Statements) and IAS (Instalment Activity Statements)
- Liaise with the ATO regarding client-related matters
- Coordinate audit preparations and respond to audit queries
- Build strong relationships with clients and act as a proactive advisor on financial performance, tax obligations and business strategy
- Assist with forecasting, budgeting and financial planning initiatives
- Support and mentor junior and graduate accountants within the firm
What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Min 4 to 5 years professional experience, ideally including small business tax, compliance and advisory
- CA, CPA, or IPA certification, or actively working towards completion
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Xero, HandiTax, Access Tax) and advanced Excel skills
- Robust knowledge of current and relevant Australian tax legislation
